Whatever it takes (Avenger, 2019). The clause stated by Capt America in the latest Avenger movie, I believe, properly represents the evolving spirit of this peasant group in cultivating Lokananta true shallot seed. |

Since the very beginning, The Utara Mandiri group consisting of 6 members man and woman who all have never engaged with any kind of shallot cultivation is fascinating. It's nothing to do with anything other than the fact that they are so keen to learn then practice how to appropriately grow shallot from its seed. They are willing to do whatever necessary to implement any technical guide that I, technical Field Officer of vegIMPACT-NL Project of Bina Tani Sejahtera Foundation, have explained even though many of which are new for them.

In my opinion, they are taking care of the shallot seedling as enthusiast as raising their own kids. From land clearing, bed raising, composting, seed sowing and re-sowing, spraying of pesticide or fertilizer, cutting off trees to make a way for the light,  to digging up the land to create trench and irrigation lane have been being executed in a disciplined manner collectively by them.

In less than 2 weeks, the shallot seedling, which are sowed at Sungai Uluk Palin Village, 700-km-north of Pontianak, West Borneo, will be transplanted onto a 500-square-meter farmland either owned by Mr, Mannan, the chief of the group, or managed collaboratively by the peasant group.  In the past six weeks, They have been preparing all to do so. Therefore, the rest is upto God will. |

It will be a whole fresh experience for them as commonly they traditionally grow only easily-handled crops such us yard-long bean or spinach. After acquiring any required knowledge and expertise to plant Lokananta true shallot, they are ready to establish a milestone in pioneering shallot cultivation in the Kapuas Hulu regency which has long been depended on whether Malaysia-imported shallot or distributed from other regencies.
